I have to admit that I'm starting to flag a little bit, but at least tonight's Birmingham show is the last one I'm driving to (London tomorrow is train, treated myself to 1st class as well) and I'll be getting to see some good friends for the first time in a while. Given that the readership of the Leesd show is next to non-existent, I'm taking that as a sign that maybe I should leave these last couple of shows undocumented on here unless there's a significant difference :)

I'm glad I'm not the only multiple attendee, friends, husband and colleagues are bemused. So far of the 3 I have attended have not spoken to him. I was at at the Barbican show with Isobel and was so thrown by Isobel being so chatty about my Scottish accent that when I got to him I think I just went " burble, burble, burble" I"ll have 1 last chance in Birmingham, won' t be able to in London as will have to get back to Euston to catch the sleeper .

Not met him at any of the signings so far to be honest, not sure what I'd say! I know a few who have gone up to him at these meet & greets (and it is nice that he's carrying on this from the tours with Isobel) and have ended up being rather nonsensical so hopefully if I ever do squeak 'hi', he'll be used to it by now...

Oh what a lucky lot we are! So jealous you still have 3 more to look forward to Si! For me, will have to settle with one night.

Sunday 3rd March, Bristol 02 Academy. Very different set list from what you heard Si...opened with When Your Number Isn't Up - what a brilliant suprise! The crowd were in, if not full, at least not repressed voice, straight off the bat - sing alongs are not usually a staple of Mark's gigs in my experience. Was expecting Gravedigger's as the opener, so was totally (and blissfully) sideswiped by the call for the night porter! The "la la la la" of coastline of lights was replete with ad hoc choir backing from we devotees...a great experience.

About the rest, will only use as an opportunity to say that, for me, Ode to Sad Disco has become one of my (suprising) favourites...the 100 Days for Blues Funeral. That track would deserve to be a number one choice for any Ibiza/Chill Out compilation, and the enraptured attention of a packed Glastonbury crowd on a summer's eve. The fact it probably won't conflicts me...

To finish an incredible night, I got the chance to do something I had always said I didn't want to do...meet The Man himself. Meeting my idols has never been "required", nor even sought out...actually I generally avoid it. But it was truly a high point of my life...he was gracious, engaging, effusive, and I am so glad I ignored myself.

Aw jeez...gotta go, got something in my eye...
